WCB: "Lost" in Real Life

Missing cat!Louis decided to stay away all day last week. He always goes outside (unless it's too cold) around 5 a.m., the ungodly hour at which his dad gets up. Then he comes back in, anywhere from 3 minutes to an hour or so later. On this particular morning, he didn't come back. Suddenly it was late morning and he still wasn't home. We walked and walked, calling and whistling for him. Then it was afternoon. The Humane Society and Animal Control were called. We walked and walked some more. We put flyers up all over the neighborhood, getting a horrible, sinking feeling as it started to grow dark. Just after we got home from doing the flyer job—Louis returned! And there was much rejoicing.

What probably happened was that he was out when the men who are working on the house next door showed up. He's terrified of them and doesn't want to be anywhere near them. I imagine he was hunkered down somewhere, in the cold, waiting till he thought it was safe. Poor guy!

So that's my story for this edition of Weekend Cat Blogging, which I'm hosting. Send me your permalinks or leave them in the comments and I'll keep adding to the roundup.

First off, there's Taboo demonstrating her super power at Jelly Pizza. Check out those eyes!

Then go to Sher's What Did You Eat? site and see Upsie, who obviously doesn't recognize the value of fresh fava beans; she lets herself be distracted by a squirrel, for heaven's sake.

And don't miss Mr. Mao of Kross-Eyed Kitty and his "hot feet." And lo-o-o-ng tongue!

Boots looks like he may have the same super power as Taboo, doncha think? And Tess is a shy one today at Hidden Paw.

There's celebrating going on at Kitikata-san's blog; Bruno, the hurt kitty formerly known as LBK, found a home! Congratulations, everyone, and nice job!

Pay a visit to Harmon, who rarely gets the spotlight. He's a hunk of burnin' love, all 18 pounds of him!

As we all know, cats like their personal space. Look whose has been invaded at Xenogere! That's right: the lady Kako.

Heavens! The gorgeous Kashim and Othello of Paulchen's Food Blog can relate to Louis' predicament; they have workmen next door wreaking havoc as well. Hang on, boys; it'll be over . . . someday. Check out the very elegant and delicious-sounding salmon-cheese balls Astrid makes to try to cheer them up. Yum.

The svelte ginger cat Ms. G wants to go for a ride at Masak-Masak. Whoa!

And look who's eating Japanese kitty grass at I Got Two Shoes. That's right—it's Kamikaze.

Trixie and Colin go for the feather toy in a big way over at The Westering Hills. Go, kitties, go!

Luna enjoys looking out at CatSynth. And look—she's the star of her own movie, too! She really wants to get out that window and, say, uh, "hi" to a feline wandering by.

Maruschka scratches away at her scratching post, then poses nicely in the sun for a close-up.

And Puddy does acrobatics to get to her favorite cubbyhole at A Byootaful Life.

Tatts gives us all hope that spring will actually come over at BeesHive...

Sasha! Love the ears!!!

Willow at Sammawow has discriminating taste; she loves tomatoes. Check out the adorable slide show of her harassing some canned ones.

Thanks, everyone, for all the good wishes for Louis and for your photos and stories.

Harmon gets to be in the spotlight this weekend, and can never resist anything that a human is eating

Glad that Louie was OK, that is such a scary feeling. Bustopher goes out a lot, and of course, loves being out at night and when he is gone for a while I start to get really nervous. It's never been
more than an hour or two, but I still can't stand it.

Boy, I'm so glad he came back. I can see how the strange men would upset Loius. How dare they invade his neighborhood!!!

This has happened to me with cats and then I lecture them and say they can never go out again. Upsie likes to hide under bushes in our yard and reuses to come when I call her. She watches me wander all over the yard calling her, and never comes out until she's good and ready!.

I'm so glad that Louis is safe. I always worry about my two indoor kitties getting out. I hope that I'm not too late for WCB. I've been having problems getting through with word verification on firefox - now trying on IE - now back on firefox!
Anyway, thanks for hosting WCB and I have a slideshow of Willow eating tomatoes here:
